Skills Recognition Policy (Including National Recognition)
It is possible that you may already have some of the skills and knowledge that is covered in the qualification you are seeking.
You may have gained these skills at school, with other training providers or at work.
Skills Recognition
Skills recognition allows you to have your current competence assessed and formally recognised, allowing you to progress through your training program faster.
In order to have your skills recognised you will be required to provide evidence to an assessor.
Such evidence may be provided through:
- Work samples and portfolios;
- Testimonials from clients or employers;
- On-the-job assessment;
- Skills demonstration;
- Interview or verbal questioning;
- Written assignments or tests.
Your training coordinator will be able to assist you with a Skills Recognition application.
Like training, skills recognition incurs a cost.
The cost of skills recognition assessment for credit is the same as the standard tuition fee charged for vocational qualifications of $1.42 per hour but to a maximum of $1,136.60 per qualification.
Concession categories are also the same as those for a vocational qualification but to a maximum of $540.20 per qualification. If a student undertakes any additional training the combined fee for skills recognition for credit and training will not exceed $518.30 (concession $270.10) per semester.
