VOCATIONAL COURSES (INCLUDING TRAINEESHIPS AND APPRENTICESHIPS, ACCESS PROGRAMS AND INDUSTRY PROGRAMS)

What fees will I be charged?

The amount that each participant, trainee or apprentice will be charged will vary according to the number of hours involved in their program of training and their circumstances.

As a general rule there are three kinds of fees - an enrolment fee, tuition fees and a resource fee.

The enrolment fee

The enrolment fee charged by Regional Training Services for apprenticeships and traineeships id $41.00 annum.

The tuition fee

The tuition fee is calculated at the rate of $1.18 per hour (to a maximum of $430.50 per semester or $861.00 per annum). A concession rate of $0.62 per hour (to a maximum of $215.25 per semester or $430.50 per annum) is available for eligible students.

The resource fee

A resource fee is charged for materials that are consumed or transformed in the course of the training. For 2002, Regional Training Services will charge a resource fee for general construction trainees and apprentices. The resource fee for these students is levied at the rate of $0.70 per hour.

Who is eligible for concession rates on tuition fees?

The following students are entitled to the concession rate on tuition fees:

  • Persons and dependants of persons holding a
    • Pensioner Concession Card;
    • Repatriation Health Benefits Card issued by the Department of Veteran's Affairs;
    • Health Care Card;
  • Persons and dependants of persons in receipt of AUSTUDY or ABSTUDY;
  • Persons and dependants of persons in receipt of the Youth Allowance;
  • Persons who are inmates of a custodial institution.

Proof of eligibility for concession must be shown at enrolment.

What options are there for making payment?
  • Pay in full
  • Present a signed authority from an employer to invoice that employer for the student's fees and charges;
  • Apply to pay by deposit of $100.00 and installments on the grounds of financial hardship.
  • Apply to have the fees and charges waived on the grounds of severe financial hardship
How do I make application for payment by deposit and installment on the grounds of financial hardship?

Speak with your training coordinator. For this option, you will need to explain your circumstances and how the payment of the fees will cause you hardship. Regional Training Services is expected to keep records of why deferred payment was granted.

SMALL BUSINESS MANAGEMENT COURSES

Students enroling in small business management courses pay a total course charge (tuition and materials) of $4.15 per hour. Concession rates are not available.
